Last week I did some photos for my friends over at WavePulse Studios – the coolest new recording studio currently gracing the sound waves of Toronto. These guys are true musical geniuses; while the human genome still has yet to be cracked, Spencer and Remy have been working on the Human Genre project - creating original compositions of every genre out there dating back over the last 110 years from delta blues to dup step. Check it out here

Hidden City An exhibition to honour the industrial underworld of the cities we love, and the artists that bring this new and alternate perspective to life in their work. Urban exploration has many forms – it starts with a gaze-the creation of a new perspective to shed light on what our used and unused spaces mean to us. Hidden City is an exposition of creativity – the eyes and lenses of photographers who go farther; taking steps, leaps and plunges into a world where most of us will never set foot, while others shed new light on commonplace urban terrain to reignite the beauty that is so often lost in the flat backdrop of the daily grind. Metal. Light. Sewage. Glass. Concrete. Art. Exploration. Skill. Innovation. Appreciation. See through a new lens FEATURED ARTISTS: Limited-edition PWB prints will be available for purchase. 25% of EACH SALE goes to an affiliated charity of the buyer’s choice. FOOD.BAR Bring your coolest friends See you February 29!!! no comments Check it out – another one of my shots from Elfie Hopkins was just published in one of the biggest newspapers in the UK, the Sun! no comments I love it when you’re halfway through a pretty typical day and then you find out you have a full page spread in one of the biggest film magazines in the UK! Grab the latest issue of Total Film to read an amazing article and check out some of my pictures for the upcoming film Elfie Hopkins from director Ryan Andrews. I just have this quick iPhone snap for now, I’ll post a proper scan soon…
no comments These are some images from a really beautiful fashion shoot I did for Danielle Singer’s jewlerry line, Dolorous. Modelled by Anna Edwards and James Ferry. Apart from an amazing model, Anna is also part of the infamous toronto band, Foxfire. Styling by the ever wonderful Elaine Jyll. And a big thanks to Tyler Johnson and Nick Carmichael for assisting on the day! Reem Jazar recently interviewed Danielle for Plaid Magazine, which featured some of these photos! You can read the article here. And of course, check out the Dolorous website here! Danielle describes her design aesthetic as “Very organic, I’m very drawn to earthy tones and textures and like to look at jewellery as an extension of the body” so I wanted to extend that kind of idea to the shoot itself – melding the subject, quality of light, and the pieces together in some really compelling moments. To set the tone for the shoot take a listen to When We’re Dancing by Twin Shadow Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. 1 comment Love the whole set. Keep em coming.
5 comments Wow – looks like a painting! Amazing WOWWEE. Who painted this? It’s a photograph – from the rainforest in northern Australia ohhh yyeeeahhh
2 comments these are so mysterious and beautiful. i adore them. Thanks so much! This was definitely one of the most amazing places I’ve travelled. All rolling hills, cliffs, water, small pubs, and no cell phone reception. Perfection. I’ve never done war photography – but I feel like it would be a lot like working in film. All around you is a crazy air of intensity – crew running around heaving lights, cups of coffee, blockings, wardrobe, makeup, all combined in one giant amazing drunken dance lucrching along seeming as if to fall at any moment. As an on set photographer you find yourself in the middle of this orchestrated madness trying to figure to work yourself into the best possible spot like a cat squeezing through a crack in a fence to set up your shot while keeping out of everyones way. Then you wait. You’ve got your frame, got your exposure, all you need is your one moment. So you wait. I was crouched in a semi fetal position behind the camera in a small butcher shop in west Wales hoping for a speck of dust to find its way into the camera, or a lens swap, or a reel change – anything to give me about three seconds to jump in front of the camera, grab my shot, and run. Then… click. Actor Ray Winstone as Butcher Bryn on the set of the feature film Elfie Hopkins.
5 comments Love this shot – the lighting looks so surreal. Ray Winstone is the man! Love his expression! ePIC is this real? i’m so confused – where did you take this???? its amazing Yeah – this is from Elfie Hopkins! Aneurin Barnard as Dylan Parker on the set of Elfie Hopkins. Ny is really an amazing friend totally killing it in the film world right now – he just played a role as photographer David Bailey in We’ll Take Manhattan and I believe he’s working on another film right now called Emmanuel and the Truth about Fishes from director Francesca Gregorini. This is one to watch!
2 comments Mysterious – the toning is really nice on this series These are so surreal. What can I say – Jamie is a force. This girl is just so cool all I can do is smile when I think back and type this. Jamie Winstone as Elfie Hopkins on the set of Elfie Hopkins in the UK.
2 comments Zach – this series is amazing! Can’t wait to see the rest! Love these. A portrait of director Ryan Andrews on set of his feature film Elfie Hopkins in the UK. The film should see a release this year so stay tuned!

no comments Travelling through Fremantle, Australia we took a chance and went exploring through Fremantle Prison. The prison was built in the 1850’s and closed only as recently as 1991 where convicts were still imprisoned in almost medieval conditions. My father talked to one of the guides who had an uncanny first hand knowledge of prison life, and a harsh stone cold demeanour. He asked him if he used to be a warden in the jail. The guide turned to him and said in a curt military tone, “There are only two kinds of people who come back here. Those who served here, and those who worked here. Next question?!” I was thinking of putting a slower, melancholy track to this series – but there’s one image in here that screams optimism and hope to me. So here’s a song full both. Overwhelming and enthralling – it is a city where one can wonder and truly find themselves lost. I was lucky enough to stop over there for a few days on my way to Australia, and spent any spare time when I wasn’t devouring bowls of noodle soup with my camera in hand. no comments Shoot with actor Will Payne. If you’re in London right now you can catch him starring as George Harrison in the west end musical Backbeat
no comments Some photographers are afraid of shooting in the snow. Some people would think it would be crazy to drive out to the country during a severe snow storm warning to do a photo shoot. Some people would probably have turned back after their car almost skidded off the road into a ditch. But where’s the fun in that? Duncan Davies, solo musician and part of the band Treasures. Take a listen
